That little platinum computer above is pretty much responsible for me being where I am now. I didn't stick with Apple though (much to Karen's chagrin), somewhere down the line I got hooked on PC's and that clunky OS, DOS. I am still as comfortable at a UNIX bash prompt that I was in DOS. Don't get me wrong though. GUI's are kewl, but to really feel like your messing with the guts of a system, a command prompt is hard to ignore.
Besides the computers themselves, I love video games.
There is something to be said about immersing yourself in a game world.
